A new age has dawned upon the world. In Islam, there is a growing tendency for violent suicidal groups emerging as a threat to world peace. Alongside, the Jews constantly being threatened with extinction if they fail to meet the Arab demands. And even Christianity, where there are still too many that preach the Bible in the left hand and rob with the right. False teachings have crept into the church and the church itself is starting to experience one kind of corruption or the other – be it lack of faith, rape or worldly acceptance. Or perhaps those that hear the message, but don't live it. It is for this reason, that we ask the following question.
In the light of the knowledge we have at our disposal, was Jesus Christ, the Chosen one; or was He merely a prophet?
Whilst we are obviously biased, we present the facts and introduce the odds.
Islam, a major world religion, promotes the use of suicide bombings killing innocent victims in the name of “ Jihad” – Holy war. Woman are subservient to the extreme [I here many males rejoicing here!] whilst the majority of Islamic countries have a few very rich; whilst the majority of the population is on or below the bread line.
The Jews, under the guise of protecting their state, commit atrocities on a daily basis with the Palestinians. And coupled to this there are many other beliefs such as the new age movement which ultimately believe that you eventually become God. Hindus’ who belief that if you were bad, you will come back in a future life as an ant, grass, etc , Solar system Gods, a mix of religion believing that there are many ways to obtain salvation, although there is ultimately one God.
The only factors that all the major beliefs and religions of the world embrace, is that there is a God.
It is against this backdrop, that we examine Christianity in its context. As Christianity is purely based of the Messiah being revealed by Jesus Christ; and His subsequent rejection by the Jews ; the next few pages discusses a vast number of prophecies concerning the Messiah, some as far back as 3 500 years ago.
Historical evidence and prophecy is used to illustrate to the reader why Christianity has survived over the last 2000 years and interesting comparisons are made with other religions of the world. Although other religions are briefly discussed, it is important to note the difference between Christianity and the Jewish religion. The Jews believe that their Messiah – “ Saviour “ is still to come; whilst the Christians believe that the Messiah came already and fulfilled the Jewish prophecies; and He will return again at the end of the age.

More than 2 000 years ago; an important event happened in the face of human history. Jesus Christ was born to the world. So profound was his ministry, healings and teachings, that many of the other religions refer to him as a great teacher or as a prophet. Jesus himself; did not claim to be any of these. In fact, Jesus claims went for above those that preceded Him. He claimed to be the along waited anointed leader of the Jews; also referred to as the "Chosen One" or the "Messiah".
Although not many other religions will acknowledge the impact of Jesus on the world; just consider that many calendar systems in its entirety, were changed to reflect the crucifixion of Christ. So if Jesus claimed to be the Messiah, surely there should be sufficient evidence that he was? And there is ... It all depends whether people will actually open there ears to the goods news; and I don't mean just listen, but themselves really seek and question what the sacred scriptures deem true. Many people have claimed things over time. Even in Jesus day; there were many people, just like today; that claim that they are the Messiah. But we know it is one thing to claim and yet another to have enough backing to be.
We now start a series of investigative travels through the ancient scriptures, the Jewish historical evidence, secular evidence, to show the reader why Jesus claims were not absurd or contradictory in nature, but rather that He was and is, what He claimed to be. Before we even begin our journey, lets consider briefly some of the background sources of our information.

"Mashiach"
The original name in Hebrew for Anointed One is "mashiach", which in turn is where the name " Messiah" is derived.
Right from the beginning when God first spoke to the Jews via the prophets, mention was made of a Holy or Anointed One of God that would destroy evil and re-unite man with God. In the Old Testament the prophets received more and more information over a 2 000 or more year period, which expanded on both the role of the Messiah and his relationship with God.
